Located in the Shoals Area of northwest Alabama, the City of Muscle Shoals has a growing population of more than 16,000. The city is characterized by beautiful neighborhoods and excellent schools, with a high quality of life from parks, access to the Tennessee River, and other regional amenities. GMC assisted the City with developing a new Comprehensive Plan to move the City into the future.
The community expressed a need to increase economic activity through redevelopment of the commercial corridors, including mixed-use development at important intersections. Maintaining the quality of schools is critical to the future success of Muscle Shoals, while also allowing a managed growth approach so that community infrastructure can continue to improve. In addition, increasing access to greenspace and other traditional community amenities are important as the City continues to grow.
