About GMC Greenville

Nestled next to the scenic Unity Park, you will find GMC’s Greenville office.

After celebrating the firm’s 15th year in Greenville in 2022, our team members moved to a new office in the middle of the 60-acre park. At our core, we believe in “building communities,” and being in the center of the park allows GMC employees to be an integral part of the growing and thriving city. Our Greenville office was designed around our people at the forefront of every decision made. GMC brought new life into the 80-year-old, 10,000-square-foot office space by exposing brick, structural elements and wood roof deck while creating a 21st century work environment with several spaces for collaboration.

GMC’s Greenville team works across a broad range of market sectors, from multiple projects at Clemson University to critical infrastructure like wastewater treatment facilities. Ranked among the top architecture and engineering firms in the GSA Business Report, we are proud to contribute to the region’s continued growth and innovation.

As a two-time recipient of SC Biz News’ Best Places to Work in South Carolina, our Greenville office reflects GMC’s strong culture, collaborative spirit and dedicated work ethic. It’s more than just a great place to work – it’s an environment that inspires ambition and drives our mission forward.

Greenville Projects

The Purrysburg Water Treatment Plant expansion project in Hardeeville, South Carolina, represents a significant infrastructure investment that has successfully doubled the facility’s capacity from 15 million gallons per day (MGD) to 30 MGD. Commissioned by the Beaufort Jasper Water and Sewer Authority (BJWSA), this comprehensive expansion addresses the growing water demands of the rapidly developing region. GMC provided complete engineering, environmental and electrical engineering services for the water treatment plant expansion, following the firm’s completion of the preliminary engineering report. The project was strategically divided into two phases to optimize construction sequencing and minimize operational disruptions: Phase I focused on solids handling and clear well construction, while Phase II encompassed the full 15 MGD capacity expansion.
The Pontiac Elementary School addition and renovation project sought to create a learning environment that not only met the functional needs of the school but also fostered a sense of community, collaboration, and belonging. The design approach aimed to transform the school into a vibrant hub where students could thrive academically and socially.
Clemson University’s new Nieri Family Alumni and Visitors Center serves as the new front door to campus, anchoring the Tiger experience through each step in the student journey. Creating a shared destination point for first time visitors and returning alumni alike, the 102,450-square-foot building brings together under one roof the Admissions & Visitors Center, Career Center for Professional Development, Clemson Alumni Association, Development Office, the Clemson University Foundation, and the Board of Trustees Staff Offices, as well as the Clark Family Pro-Shop for the Walker Golf Course , and the Lucky Duck Bistro, a full service restaurant.
Under a management contract, GMC was responsible for airfield operations and ensuring compliance with Part 139 to maintain the Airport’s Airport Operating Certificate. By becoming the director of operations, GMC successfully guided the airport through three (3) Part 139 certification inspections. Today, GMC still holds an on-call contract for management services to serve as an extension of airfield staff subsequently tasked with Part 139 compliance. On-call administration services include grant preparation and administration, airport special operations coordination, FAA Part 139 certification inspection preparation, and airfield operations as needed.
GMC’s scope included aiding Seneca Light and Water in a performance-based selection for a sodium hypochlorite onsite generation (OSG) system as well as the architectural design of the new control and laboratory building and raw water intake structure for a 24 MGD water treatment facility on Lake Keowee.
In 2015, GMC and Greeley and Hansen were hired to perform a Water Resource Master Plan for Greenville Water (GW). GW is supplied water from Lake Keowee and two mountain reservoirs (Table Rock and North Saluda) in which the entire mountain watersheds (approximately 30,000 acres) are underdeveloped and owned by GW.
