On December 6, 2024, the Birmingham Jefferson Convention Complex celebrated the milestone of placing the final beam on the new Coca-Cola Amphitheater.

The Coca-Cola Amphitheater, owned by the BJCC and managed by Live Nation, will be located in the Northside area of Birmingham and able to host upward of 9,000 guests.  It will be the first open-air music venue to join the BJCC campus.

The new amphitheater will host around 20 concerts a year, festivals, community gatherings and special events; however, one of the top highlights of the venue will be the view. Fans will be seated on a hill looking south toward downtown Birmingham’s iconic skyline. Other accommodations will include concessions, a VIP club, back of house space and offices.

The new venue is projected to boost Birmingham’s Uptown entertainment area with the goal of encouraging concertgoers to visit nearby restaurants, hotels and other local businesses.

Located on the former Carraway Hospital campus, which has been vacant since 2008, plans for future developments on the property will include a mix of residential options, hotel components, retail and office space. Additionally, the BJCC is renovating two pre-existing parking decks from the former Carraway Hospital site to accommodate for the new visitors.

Generator Studio is the architect of record on the project with Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC) as the associate architect. Stone Building Company is serving as the contractor.

The venue has plans to open Summer of 2025 with a growing list of artists set to perform, including Thomas Rhett, Teddy Swims and Rod Stewart.
