Springville High School cuts the ribbon on new athletic amenities

Springville High School held a ribbon cutting ceremony for its new turf football field and baseball/softball amenities on August 23, 2024.
Springville’s football field was converted from a natural field to a synthetic turf field with a brand-new design featuring a purple ‘S’ in mid-field. This included landscaping previous issues such as uneven ground and adding a drainage system. A new fence, goal posts and play clocks completed the field renovation.
By adding a 1.5-inch overlay of new asphalt to the existing surface, the track around the field feels entirely new. Plus, the roads and parking lot were all repaved to remove the previous gravel lot and provide ADA compliant parking. Additionally, this also helps address drainage issues by directing water away from the fields.
This project represents a worthwhile investment for Springville, as the new turf field serves as home not only to the football program, but also boys’ and girls’ soccer, the latter of which has won the state championship two years in a row.
“We are excited about the athletic facility upgrades for the Springville community,” St. Clair County Superintendent, Dr. Justin Burns said. “We hope our students enjoy them for years to come.”
Springville also invested in the baseball and softball fields with construction of a new concession stand, press box and dugout for softball funded by Senator Jim McClendon. The new softball dugout also features a locker room, office and restrooms. The concession stand and press box were upgraded to two stories, separating the two spaces which were previously on the same level. New bathrooms were also added through the improvements.
“This is a great day for Springville High School,” Springville High School principal, Dr. Gregory Moore said. “I do not have the words to express the gratitude I have for everyone that helped make this possible. We have a great school community, and I hope these facility upgrades are something that everyone can appreciate.”
