Construction begins on expansion of Brasfield & Gorrie’s national headquarters
March 8, 2024 · Projects
Brasfield & Gorrie is growing by 28,500 square feet! The firm recently held a groundbreaking to celebrate the beginning of construction of the expansion of its national headquarters in Birmingham. Pylon Building Group, a full-service general construction company and wholly owned subsidiary of Brasfield & Gorrie, is building the three-story addition. Goodwyn Mills Cawood is serving as the project architect, interior designer and landscape architect.
One of the nation’s largest privately held construction firms, Brasfield & Gorrie has been strategically planning for the expansion in the city’s Lakeview District. The firm says Birmingham has been its home since day one, and they feel strongly about continuing to invest in the community. The expansion will create 85 local jobs and have an estimated $13.5 million economic impact over 20 years, according to Birmingham Business Alliance.
GMC has partnered with Brasfield & Gorrie on a series of expansions and renovations of its Birmingham office over the last several years. The BG2X West Tower Addition marks a significant milestone and one that will support the company’s long-range strategic plan.
“It’s truly an honor for Brasfield & Gorrie to entrust us with this project,” GMC CEO Jeffrey Brewer said. “They’ve been a great partner over the years and being selected to design the place so many of their team members call home is an opportunity we don’t take lightly.”
The expansion is scheduled for completion in summer 2025.
Other project partners include Jackson, Renfro & Associates, MW/Davis Dumas & Associates, Schoel Engineering Company, LBYD and Slaton Designworks.
