GMC adds engineering experts in Montgomery

Montgomery engineering is adding industry experts.
Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC) is pleased to welcome senior technical leader Jim Grassiano, PE, and construction administration manager Tim Mitchell to the Alabama engineering team. These additions bolster the firm’s water/wastewater expertise, as both add unique and specialized value with tremendous experience in the water fields.

These personnel additions are indicators of our continued focus on the water sector and providing our clients with the best in water-related services including design, construction, regulatory assistance and water sector training. Senior technical leader Jim Grassiano, PE, joins the firm following his more than 35-year career with the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM), giving him extensive compliance experience and a unique perspective to offer GMC’s clients.
During his almost four-decade career in the public and private sectors, Grassiano developed specialties in industrial process operations, industrial and municipal wastewater treatment and domestic drinking water treatment. He is adept at solving complex problems to improve plant performance, reduce capital costs and improve electrical efficiency. In addition, he has comprehensive regulatory experience solving environmental compliance issues.
Grassiano serves as the current chair of Water Professionals International (WPI). He also served as the ADEM Liaison to Alabama Water Works, Alabama Water Pollution Control Association and Alabama Rural Water Association and has an excellent history of grant management with the EPA and the Department of Energy. As the former ombudsman and manager of the Operator Certification and Compliance Assistance Programs at ADEM, he has notable regulatory experience tackling challenging water and wastewater concerns.
Grassiano has received several accolades throughout his career, including the WPI Robert C. McAnespie Outstanding Officer Award and the AWPCA Charles W. White Award.
Tim Mitchell joins the firm following his 10-plus year career with ClearWater Solutions, giving him extensive experience and knowledge in water treatment, wastewater treatment, water distribution and regulations. As construction administration manager, he will be responsible for project oversight, management and compliance, as well as assisting the team with his immense knowledge of the industry.
Mitchell has worked on projects throughout the Southeast and has experience in all areas of water operations and management. He has worked in the public and private sectors and managed budgets as well as continuing education programs. He is a licensed water professional in Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi and South Carolina.
