Two GMC projects recognized among ENR Southeast’s 2023 Best Projects

ENR Southeast recently announced its Best Projects of 2023, with two Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC) projects among those recognized.
The ALDI Loxley Regional Headquarters and Distribution Center in Loxley, Alabama received the Award of Merit for Manufacturing while the Auburn University Football Performance Center in Auburn, Alabama received Best Project for Specialty Construction.
ENR Southeast received 83 submissions and was voted on by a panel of nine judges. Thirty-one winners were announced over 16 categories.

Auburn University Football Performance Center, Auburn, Ala.

The largest athletics project in Auburn University history, the Woltosz Football Performance Center was created to provide space for the day-to-day activities of athletes, coaches and staff. Covering 12 acres, the facility includes two full-sized natural grass outdoor fields and a 95,300-square-foot indoor practice facility with a full-sized synthetic turf field. Additionally, it features a 25,000-square-foot player development lab featuring strength and conditioning equipment and training space and more.
GMC architects designed the football performance center, in partnership with HOK. Additionally, GMC provided landscape architecture, geotechnical engineering, environmental services and land surveying for the project. Other project partners included Rabren Construction, LBYD Engineers, Henderson Engineers and HNP Landscape Architecture.

ENR Award of Merit, Manufacturing
ALDI Loxley Regional Headquarters and Distribution Center, Loxley, Ala.

The 564,000-square-foot facility will serve 100 stores and reach more than eight million customers along the Gulf Coast in Alabama, Mississippi, the Florida panhandle and Louisiana.
ALDI’s new Loxley hub sits on 150 acres in the industrial and warehousing district and was designed to be sustainable, featuring energy-efficient design components like roof-mounted solar panels, LED lighting, an environmentally friendly refrigeration system and metal panel insulation.
GMC was proud to provide site civil engineering, landscape architecture, geotechnical engineering, environmental services and land surveying for the project.
