Goodwyn Mills Cawood founder and former executive Steve Cawood, PE, has been recognized as one of SC Biz News ICON Honors recipients.
SC Biz News introduced the ICON Honors recognition program to celebrate South Carolina business leaders over 60 who have exhibited strong leadership and notable successes.
“I’ve had the opportunity to work alongside Steve for more than 25 years. There are few areas in my life that Steve hasn’t positively influenced. He’s been a mentor, friend and confidant in every aspect,” GMC CEO Jeffrey Brewer said. “Neither Goodwyn Mills Cawood or Clearwater Solutions would be in South Carolina if it weren’t for Steve, his love for the state and his desire to positively impact the region. Whether it be a business venture, relationship, act of service or just a conversation, Steve strives to leave a legacy of good in all he does.”
After launching his own engineering firm in South Carolina, Steve Cawood returned to Montgomery in 1985 to join forces with his former employers, George Goodwyn and Donald Mills, forming what is now Goodwyn Mills Cawood. In 2007, Steve founded ClearWater Solutions (CWS), now one of the Southeast’s leading water and wastewater operations and maintenance (O&M) companies.
Throughout his career, Steve has retained several leadership roles in economic development, government, nonprofits and more throughout the region, however, it is his passion for “building communities” and impacting the lives of those around him that is truly unmatched.
