Industry veterans join GMC in Augusta, Georgia

Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC) is pleased to announce aviation manager Jeffrey A. (Jeff) Hester and senior planner Glenn Coyne, FAICP, have joined the firm in Augusta, Georgia.
Jeff Hester brings to GMC a 33-year career in the field of transportation engineering, primarily focused on aviation and business leadership. As aviation manager, he will be responsible for departmental growth, project oversight, management and strategic plan development for aviation clients throughout Georgia. Hester’s work experience includes a cross section of consulting firms ranging from small staffed firms to an ENR Top 20 Firm of more than 4,000 employees with numerous offices domestic and internationally, providing him a diverse and resourceful perspective and background. He was named “Employee of the Year (Southern Region)” at his prior firm in recognition of his exceptional work ethic and service to his clients, projects and team of associates.
Beginning his aviation career as a board draftsman and designer, Hester progressed in rank to project design, project management, construction services, office manager, firm principal and associate vice president. He brings years of experience and expertise with Air Carrier (Part 139) and general aviation airports throughout the southeastern U.S., including Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, Tennessee, Louisiana, North and South Carolina and Florida, in addition to many years of experience and relationships through his work with supporting consulting firms, contractors, the FAA Southern Region, state departments of transportation and aeronautical agencies and local municipalities.
Senior planner Glenn Coyne, FAICP, brings more than three decades of professional land use and transportation planning experience to GMC. His past roles include planning leadership in the Georgia communities of Augusta, Savannah, and Duluth, and Cuyahoga County in Ohio. Glenn has served as a consultant to many local governments throughout the Southeast US, completing comprehensive, neighborhood and transportation plans, as well as zoning ordinances and unified land development codes.
A leader in the planning profession, Coyne served as the director of the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) in Washington, D.C., for four years. He was inducted into the AICP College of Fellows in 2012 – the highest honor the AICP bestows upon a member. He is actively involved with the Georgia Planning Association, serving previously as chapter president, professional development officer and board member. In addition, he has served as a board member for the Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO); member of the City of Lakewood, Ohio Planning Commission; Atlanta Regional Commission Community Planning Academy faculty member; Augusta Regional Transportation Study (MPO) Technical Coordinating Committee member; and is a graduate of Leadership Augusta.
Coyne earned his bachelor’s degree in urban studies from Cleveland State University, followed by a master’s degree in city planning from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
