February 12, 2021 · Projects
In July 2020, national grocery retailer ALDI announced plans to locate a new regional headquarters and distribution center in Loxley, Alabama. The new 564,000-square-foot facility will be located on 150 acres in Loxley’s industrial and warehousing district, just north of I-10. The project is anticipated to result in approximately $100 million in capital investment and create 200 new jobs for Baldwin County.
On Feb. 10, 2021, Governor Kay Ivey, along with leaders from Baldwin County, the Town of Loxley and the Baldwin County Economic Development Alliance joined ALDI officials to kick off construction of the new facility, opening next year. GMC’s team is providing civil engineering, landscape architecture, environmental and geotechnical engineering services for the project.
The regional headquarters and distribution facility will serve up to 100 ALDI stores located throughout Alabama, southern Georgia, Mississippi, the Florida Panhandle and Louisiana.
