Work begins on the Cloverdale Playhouse Courtyard Stage
March 24, 2016 · Community, Projects
The Cloverdale Playhouse celebrated its latest expansion with a groundbreaking event on Wednesday, March 23, 2016. The new Courtyard Stage will be located in the 2,000 square-foot, grassy side yard and will provide classroom, rehearsal and performance space. This much-needed addition will increase the Playhouse’s capacity to bring children’s theater arts training and community theater offerings to its many dedicated volunteers and students. In addition to hosting Playhouse School Classes and rehearsals, the new outdoor stage will serve as a venue for special events and live music.
Goodwyn, Mills and Cawood provided design and engineering services, pro bono, and Foshee Design and Construction is providing contracting services at cost to make the project a reality. Initial funding for the project has been generously donated by the Alabama State Council on the Arts and the J.K. Lowder Family Foundation, with additional fundraising underway.
