MedHelp 280 recognized as Top Commercial Real Estate Deal of the Year for 2015

The Birmingham Business Journal recognized MedHelp 280 as one of the top Commercial Real Estate Deals of the Year for 2015. Deals are chosen based on a number of factors, including cost, location, project scope and potential for impact or future development.

Birmingham-based MedHelp expanded its current on site urgent care and family practice operations and located its corporate headquarters to the 40,000-square-foot facility on U.S. 280 after demolishing the former 9,000-square-foot medical office building and converting the space to the new facility’s parking lot. Architects and developers proposed a replace-in-place strategy for the new two-story medical office building and developed the project in three phases to allow the existing practice and building to remain in place and operational during construction.

MedHelp 280 is located along what is evolving into a new medical corridor in the Birmingham area. Medhelp occupies 20,000 sf in the new building while Grandview Medical Center, which opened its new hospital less than a mile away, has signed a lease on the second floor. Grandview and plans to fill 20,000 square feet of the space with specialists.

Andy Sink and John Thomas of Colliers International were the project developers, Goodwyn Mills and Cawood served was the architect and Brasfield & Gorrie was the general contractor.
