Auburn University’s South Donahue Residence Hall received national recognition at the Association of University Interior Designers Annual Conference held at the University of Texas in October. The University residence hall, designed by Goodwyn, Mills and Cawood, placed second out of 36 at the annual design competition. The entry was submitted by Auburn Interior Designer Anna Ruth Gatlin.
This brand new 264,000 square-foot residential facility comprises more than 400 beds among six stories to house co-ed athletes and general students and has set a new precedent for high-end, luxury on-campus living.
“From the carpet and accent colors, to the digital wall-covering in the lobby, Auburn Spirit is engrained throughout the common areas, complemented by wood and stone look accents,” GMC Senior Interior Designer Ellen Johnson said. “The two-bedroom, two-bath suites maintain a more residential feel with neutral colors, stone look tiled walk-in showers, dark wood luxury vinyl tile and cabinets and quartz countertops.”
